Nora has been very annoyed after give birth to Thaddeus, now her baby was 2 month old, and Charles wanted to baptize their child. He chose the godparents, it was deal both of them did. Nora picked the baby’s name, and Charles would choose the godparents for their precious son. Every night when Charles mention to call the godfather, Nora always fake an illness, saying she’s headache, tired, she wasn’t even in mood to buy new dress, and of course her husband was getting pretty annoyed with her.

He never been rude to Nora, but this day she have to ‘prepared’ the dinner the way he wanted, hiring servants, and buy stuffs including new dress for Nora. Thaddeus godfather was James Patrick March. Charles had already announced it, to him and Nora was crying and crazy, all the servants could hear them fighting all the time, and this makes their child wake up, and crying and affecting the nerves of both of them.

What’s the problem about this? She wasn’t even sure Charles’s the real father of her son, she tried to kept herself but James was always trying to seduce her, and she ended having an affair with him. The nanny brought Thaddeus, dressed in a lace, and stayed with him on the room, Nora was trying not to cry, she is ready to receive the visitors in her place.

The doorball rang, her heart explode inside of her lungs. “Go open the door, Nora and be nice.” Charles said while looking at his wife that is clearly distressed. She take a huge breath, holding her own handkerchief close to her mouth, and nose, and the way she look at the door hesitating. But then she wrapped her hand with her own handkerchief to open it. And let a wide smile spread on her face.

“Hey, Mr. March!” Her beautiful crystal blue hues, teary, and she seemed unhappy, she is unhappy, and she let him get inside of her house. “Charles is awaiting for you.” She tried not to look at him, hating this moment, this was a bad idea. James shouldn’t be the godfather of Thaddeus, especially when he’s the biological father. Truth be told James has more highly possibility of being Thaddeus father’s than Charles.

Her husband came after, her to greet James and her wrapped an arm around her waist. “Hello, dear! Would you like some whiskey? Nora isn’t feeling well, those days, right Nora, dear?” He made an warned look to Nora, and she forced a smile, nodding.

Fingertips held an invitation as he would stare down at it’s cursive letters. Ah, at least his surgeon friend had reminded himself that James enjoyed things to be quite formal. Sat down on the back seat of his car, it was only a mere question of time until he could arrive at the residence of the Montgomerys, being accompanied by his wife. Truth to be told, entertaining was one word he would use to describe such situation he had found himself into. A man of culture, albeit being proudly responsible for certain murderous activities that remained a secret to the society yet  (  as it should as long as he’d live  ), becoming a godfather to the child of the woman he once had an affair with.

Ah, it was too ironic to be true.

To say in perfect words how it had started, however, he could not. It was spontaneous, as Mr. March was merely amusing himself with the company of an exquisite beauty with quite the same similar taste as his very own, an attempt of seduction coming from him that was then attended. It was different, to be quite honest. To be with someone else other than his darling Marilyn, especially when this someone else wasn’t a person he was particularly looking to perform his art on.

Minutes passed by and they had soon arrived at the desired place, a chofer opening the doors for his superiors as the Marches made their own way to the door  ;   he rang the bell once. Experienced eyes locked into the woman’s ocean ones, noticing the clear change about them  ;   unhappiness. It was quite obvious, actually. Not exactly something March would have to put an effort to discover and, yet, he found better to ignore such a thing.   ❛   Mrs. Montgomery! Always a pleasure,    ❜   A polite smile was offered with his usual charming tone, fingertips reaching out for her hand as he’d placed a small kiss on top of it; a normal reaction out of a gentleman, and yet looking at her he would, a glance almost imperceptible as for his wife should not know.

Ah, now he could definitely say it  ;  such house was incredibly well decorated. Not that James wasn’t aware of that already, and yet everything would fit with such harmony and perfection; almost placing an equal rank as his palace of a hotel. Before another thought could even pass through his mind and definitely after his wife would eulogize such archtecture, Charles’ voice was heard. Oh, but the scientist had a particular line of work that he definitely both agreed with and admired. As a fellow enthusiast for the darkness, albeit in different proportions, Mr. March certainly recognized the other’s talent. And yet, there he was; as false and furtive as a snake

❛   Ahh, my good friend Charles. Bring me a Macallan, please,    ❜   Words escaped as he would observe the couple, clearly noticing the blonde’s nervousness. If any other occasion, James would most likely demand for her to stop. Still, he couldn’t. Not yet.   ❛   So it seems. I’m sure your wife will most likely feel better soon, especially when me and Marilyn have come all this way to meet our godchild. Won’t you, dear?    ❜   Oh, but he’d merely hope she’d understand such hidden meaning behind his rhetorical inquirement.

Nora grabbed her glass of champagne, and took a huge sip on it, and let the glass on the table, taking a deep breath before she continue to speak. “So, Mr. March, I have to warning you, I made everything of my HOUSE. I drawed my house and he did exactly what I was demanding. Secondly, about your hotel, I think is very charming, especially if someone wants some privacy, it’s really comfortable. I bet, you made hidden places, shortcuts in everywhere, am I right? ‘cause this is what I’ve did to my house.” Then, she picked one of the appetizers on the table, and eat it.

“I also must to added, I like the color of this hotel, it’s reminds me the Renaissance time.” Another sip on her drink, while she watched with her crystal blue eyes the darkness of his own. What else he expect to her to tell ? Truthfully? She found the hotel marvellous! What he wants to added there anyway? She wouldn’t touch a finger if she were him.

                           “Do you have a cigarette?”

he’d observe every single motion of hers, fingertips reaching for the other glass as he took a sip from it himself. personally, scotch was his choice of poison ; and yet, champagne was pleasant all the same.   ❛   oh, did you?    ❜  now he seemed impressed.     ❛   i must say, mrs. montgomery —– you do have quite the taste. exactly what i look forward to cortez. that’s the name of my hotel,      ❜   he’d listen attentively to every word, and oh boy, didn’t she just guessed it just right.   ❛    shortcuts, hinged walls, secret rooms… ah, mrs. montgomery, it’s going to be a real palace, you see,    ❜   reaching out for a single strawberry, james would soon take a bite of hit before drinking yet another sip from his drink.    ❛   have you ever tasted strawberries in such occasion? it accentuates the taste of the champagne,     ❜

❛    ahh, i knew you had a good taste, indeed! that’s what i was looking for. that and art deco, quite the new style. seems like you and i aren’t as different as i thought after all, nora,     ❜   an emphasis was given to her first name and, truth to be told, james couldn’t expect less from the socialite. with a house being the epitome of class, he was obviously sure that such ideas couldn’t have come out of charles’ mind. not that his friend wasn’t a brilliant man, oh no, however decoration was never his forte. listening to her question, he’d reached out for the inside of his suit, taking out from it a small leather case which contained two cigars and three cigarettes respectively, waiting for her to choose one as he could, such as any gentleman, give a light to it.   ❛   please, make yourself comfortable.    ❜

Right. I feel the irony about my husband.” Nora took a seat on the table, while his maids and butler take off her fur coat, and her gaze locked in James Patrick March. She was only there because of Charles, she seemed be the man of their relationship, always taking care of the media, and society while he was busying himself with his chemical toys open people bodies. Well, at the least all Hollywood actresses and actors seeking for him because Charles is the best surgeon.

image

❛   ahh, but can you?   ❜   there was the slight raise of a brow, trained eyes observing the blonde before him as a question was made ; and, this time, with a hint of a more serious tone. he wouldn’t ever deny about being a fan of the infamous doctor, especially since james had just started with his extra-curricular activities  ;  killing was, as of now, his brand new passion. and surprised he wouldn’t be in knowing it would maintain itself as such for several years.   ❛   i must say, mrs. montgomery —– he has built you quite the house.       ❜

a small smirk graced his lips the moment a maid entered the room holding his orders on a silver tray, pouring the alcohol down two legit crystal glasses.   ❛   your champagne,   ❜  a single look was given to it before words could form themselves once again.    ❛   as i was saying… a very fine archtecture, indeed. you see… i plan on building an hotel as exuberant. and i wanted to know, mrs. montgomery, the opinion of an equal exquisite woman. may i count on you?      ❜

First of all, will I have benefit from it ? Secondly, do you have a drink to offer? I’d love a Moët & Chandon Dom Perignon White Gold please. Third my family hated when I’m here talking with you, James. I’m just here because of Charles, is not good for a married woman talking with a single man, if y’know what I mean.”

image

❛     but of course you are, darling! now, now, we do like to maintain things as mutual here, don’t we? aaaah, charles. charming as always, isn’t he? and families ; such an awful inconvenience. nobody needs to know we are ever talking, dear. i’m quite sure someone will be bringing your champagne right away.      ❜
